How efficient is the 2019 Kia Optima?

For many drivers, the preferred mpg rating sits somewhere between 30 and 40. If a vehicle averages upwards of 35 mpg, it is considered to be highly efficient. Well, the 2019 Optima comes with impressive efficiency numbers regardless of the engine option. The LX (base) and S trims each feature a 2.4-liter inline four-cylinder engine powered by 185 horses. This engine contributes to up to 33 highway mpg, 24 city mpg, and 27 combined mpg. To maximize your fuel economy, you will want to check out the EX model. The EX comes with a smaller, but more powerful 201-horsepower, 1.6-liter I4 engine. This option will help you average up to 37 highway mpg, 27 city mpg, and 31 combined mpg. Then we have the SX Turbo model. If you’re willing to sacrifice some efficiency in the name of horsepower, this is a wonderful option. The SX Turbo features a 2.0-liter I4 engine with an impressive 245 horsepower. That added power results in reduced, yet still respectable mpg numbers of 30 on the highway, 21 in the city, and 24 combined.
