We dug around, and these are the top 2016 Turkey Trot races in and around Orange County CA.

Top Turkey Trot Races in Orange County

Dana Point Turkey Trot

Though something of a drive for Garden Grove CA residents, this is the biggest and longest running Turkey Trot in the area and the sixth largest in the country. It’s in its 39th year and features a 5k, 10k and Kids Gobble Wobble run. You can easily register online up until the 21st, and the event starts Thanksgiving Day, November 24, with a 6 a.m. health and wellness expo.

Plymouth Rock ‘n’ Run

OK, we admit this isn’t a Turkey Trot in the sense that it doesn’t have the name, but points should go out for that clever play on words. Plus, you can still dress up as a turkey if you want. This event is a great one for those looking to run for a cause as proceeds support the Reeve-Irvine Research Center at UC Irvine, which specializes in spinal cord injury research.

Unlike the other races, you’re only held to a 5k with this event, so don’t feel pressured to push yourself. All participants receive a Turkey Trot shirt, a finisher metal and pumpkin pie at the finish line. There are also Gobble Wobble events for the little ones, broken down into 4 age groups to keep things fair.

We know Thanksgiving can be a real diet busting holiday, but Turkey Trots are a fun way to get out and start the day early, before you dash back to the kitchen to get things started. If there’s an event you’ve been to in the past, feel free to share it here at the Garden Grove Kia Blog.
